Founded in just 116 square meters of rented shop space in a residential area of Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1990, BOOKOFF and its approximately 100 franchisees have grown into a chain of about 1,000 stores in the ensuing two decades.

　We want customers and neighbors of each shop to be glad that shop exists. We want the full and part-time employees of each shop to wear a smile and feel glad they work there. The corporate philosophy of BOOKOFF Corporation is “contributing to society through our business activities” and “the pursuit of employees’ material and spiritual wellbeing.”

　Many people have things they no longer use and do not want to simply discard. In response to their needs, as a business, we aim to use “BOOKOFF” as a “vein” in the recycling-based society that carries these things to a new life.
